Integration Guide

Get your Numeral API key

Log in to your Numeral dashboard and navigate to API Keys. Create keys for both test and production environments.See Numeral API Keys documentation for detailed instructions.

Add Numeral in PayNext

In Dashboard → Integrations → Tax, click Add tax provider → Numeral → Connect

Enter API key

  • Sandbox: Use your Numeral sk_test_... key for PayNext Sandbox
  • Production: Use your Numeral sk_prod_... key for PayNext Production

Add origin address

Enter your business origin address—the address your products ship from or your registered business address.
You can add additional office locations and employee addresses in your Numeral dashboard. Numeral automatically calculates your nexus obligations based on these parameters.

Select default product category

Choose the product category that best describes your offerings. This determines the tax rate applied to transactions.See Numeral Product Categories for all available categories. Most SaaS businesses use SAAS_GENERAL.

Set default tax behavior

  • Exclusive: Tax added on top of the price (standard for US)
  • Inclusive: Tax included in the displayed price

Save

Click Connect to complete the integration
Once enabled, PayNext calculates and collects US sales tax automatically. See Automatic tax collection for details on how tax calculation works.

Testing

Use your Numeral sk_test_... key in PayNext Sandbox. Test transactions don’t incur charges or trigger tax filing.
Test with addresses from different US states to verify tax rates are calculated correctly for various jurisdictions.
